Ilonka Deaton was a victim of sexual slavery starting at the age of 12. Her life and the lives of her family were threatened keeping her in bondage. She had just cut a record deal and was recruited by a 13-year-old neighbor and friend (a young scared trafficked victim) for one of the ring leaders who Ilonka thought was going to be instrumental in her music career.
For 5 years Ilonka had a price tag on her and was told, heinous horrible things about herself that she believed. She was rescued before her 18th birthday and legally immigrated to the U.S. Ilonka lived with shame, lies, condemnation, depression, anxiety and fear. By age 25 she had attempted suicide twice. Ilonka stated that being physically rescued out of a trafficking ring didn’t set her free. She was still their prisoner until she heard about the Grace of God.
Ilonka is committed to the cause of helping other victims and survivors get freedom and healing from this unbelievable dark crime. She sings and speaks to audiences across the US. calling for people to stand with her in eradicating trafficking and individuals that their stories matter.
